What will your child's savings plan grow to?
The calculator models the full lifecycle of a child's account with an equity-fund ETF: savings phase, annual advance lump sum and sale tax at the target age.

A securities account in your child's name. The income is attributed to the child for tax purposes.
Yes. With it, capital income is tax-free up to the basic allowance (Grundfreibetrag, EUR 11,604) plus the saver's allowance (Sparerpauschbetrag, EUR 1,000).
At 18, your child gains full access to the account. Families with a Junior Depot often discuss the transition early.

Calculate now →A Junior Depot is opened in the child's name. That has two consequences which together make it attractive: time and tax status.
Time: investing from birth gives the capital an 18-year horizon. A long horizon reduces the probability of ending below the amount paid in, without ever eliminating it.
Tax status: the income is attributed to the child, and the child has its own allowances: its own saver's allowance (Sparer-Pauschbetrag, EUR 1,000, Section 20(9) EStG) and its own basic personal allowance (Grundfreibetrag, EUR 12,348 in 2026, Section 32a EStG).
With an NV-Bescheinigung (non-assessment certificate), the child's investment income of up to roughly EUR 13,384 per year (2026) is paid out without tax being withheld at source. Our guide to the NV-Bescheinigung explains how to apply.
An obvious savings rate is the child benefit (Kindergeld): EUR 259 per month (as of 2026). The calculator has a dedicated toggle for it. Investing that amount in full from birth means EUR 55,944 paid in by the 18th birthday; what it grows to depends on the return you choose as an assumption in the calculator.
The calculator models the account's full lifecycle, not just compound interest:
Step 1: Monthly compounding of the lump sum and savings rate up to the target age Step 2: Annual Vorabpauschale (base rate 2026: 3.20%, partial exemption 30%) Step 3: Tax on sale at the end: gain − credited Vorabpauschale amounts, after partial exemption and saver's allowance, at 26.375%

Vorabpauschale amounts already taxed along the way are credited on sale, so nothing is taxed twice. The NV-Bescheinigung works in the model the way it works in reality: it avoids the annual withholding at source, and the calculator shows that saving separately.
The return is an assumption, not a forecast. The calculator uses an equity-fund ETF (30% partial exemption) and a constant return; real markets fluctuate. Past performance is no promise for the future.
Legally the money belongs to the child: at 18 the child takes over the account in full. Larger payments by parents or grandparents are gifts; the allowances (EUR 400,000 per parent every ten years) are generous but want planning for larger amounts. See the gift-tax calculator and our parents' guide to the Junior Depot.
