UCITS is the EU-wide regulatory framework for investment funds, setting uniform standards for diversification, liquidity and investor protection.
UCITS (Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities) is an EU-wide regulatory framework for investment funds. UCITS-compliant funds are subject to strict rules on diversification, liquidity and transparency.
Nearly all ETFs traded in Europe are UCITS-compliant. The "UCITS ETF" label in the fund name signals strong investor protection and guarantees that the fund may be distributed throughout the EU.
UCITS funds must, for example, hold at least 16 different securities and may invest at most 10% in any single issuer. This protects investors from concentration risk.
