Family & inheritance
Wealth transfer is the legal transfer of assets, either during one's lifetime as a gift or upon death as an inheritance.
Wealth transfer (Vermögensübertragung) is the umbrella term for every way in which assets legally pass from one person to another.
Two routes are generally distinguished: a transfer during one's lifetime in the form of a gift, and a transfer on death in the form of an inheritance.
The two routes trigger different tax and legal consequences (gift tax and inheritance tax respectively). Which route makes sense in a given case depends on the individual situation and should be accompanied by tax and legal advice.
